Sunday walk

September 20th, 2010

Wow – Sunday was the longest – ‘walk only (not even a little jog!!!) I have ever completed and it was so beautiful because I was accompanied by Tim, Lisa and Tanya.

Tim and I started at my house by Darebin Creek and headed through the Upper Hiedelberg Rd Shops, past Ivanhoe Grammar School and down to the little park in Ivanhoe where the Bowls Club and footy oval is – here we were met by Lisa and Tanya. It was non-stop chatter all the way of course as Tim enlightened me to some socio -economic growth problems and solutions and answers as we went.
When we met Lisa and Tanya it was fantastic because Lisa had worked out at great route through beautiful Chelsworth park (Old Ivanhoe Footy Club memories for Johnny!) and then along the Yarra River. I had secretly hoped we would begin to see some of the beauty of Ivanhoe and it happened!
Gotta go Amelia needs me but safe to say on the whole Tim and I finished up with 24km walked in around three and half hours. So we are on track with the training for the marawalk.
SO far we have raised $30 000 with a big thanks to all contributers and supporters. Spectrum Financial Services especially were instumental in achieving a $10 000 grant from AMP. WOW Ivanhoe Grammar are also on-board and planning a gold-coin donation day and to come and support us on their oval when we walk past on the day of the event! Importantly many of the funds will be directed from TLC to the Austin Hospital making this community event exceptionally planned and executed for our community.
